Pioneers to battle for Olympic gold

(Wolfgang Philipps) The two pioneer nations of women´s waterpolo will battle for the gold medal of the III Olympic Games Tournament here in Beijing, China. In today´s semi-finals Team USA gained a 9-8 victory against Australia, while Europe´s number five beat two-time FINA World champion Hungary 8-7. Olympic newcomer China took the fifth place, beating 2004 gold medallist 10-7 in the ranking match. The two last matches of the highly entertaining eight-nation-tournament will be held on Thursday.
